"My 4 year old had his first cleaning the other day at Buford Family Dentistry. They made the whole experience a wonderful one ... from first entering the building to a smiling face to the end when the hygienist had him be a "helper" by holding the "water vacuum". He couldn't wait to tell everyone about getting his teeth cleaned. We will definitely be using them again."- R.J. / Google / Apr 08, 2021
"I had the best experience with Dr. Kramer! I had to have an implant done, which is a procedure with several steps. She was wonderful. I had the tooth removed, the bone graft and the implant done with no problems and very minimal pain. She is very skilled and caring. She called me at home the night of the surgery (bone graft) to make sure I was ok and didn't have any questions. I strongly recommend her!!!"- E.P. / Google / Apr 06, 2021

Best Candidates for Dental Implants
Implants can restore one or several lost teeth by connecting the implant to a crown, denture, or bridge. You may prefer implant dentistry if you have a removable or cemented dental restoration, but don't like the appearance, fit, or if there's special cleaning needed. Dental implants can be treated just like your normal teeth with daily flossing and brushing. At your consultation, our staff will evaluate the health of your jawbone and gums to determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants. In some cases, a bone or gum graft surgery may be needed prior to implant surgery to strengthen your mouth. Dental implants may not be appropriate if you use tobacco products, are pregnant, or are being treated for another issue such as periodontal disease.
What To Expect
To prepare for your dental implants, you may have teeth extracted, as well as gum and bone grafts. When you are ready for dental implant surgery, you will be given local anesthesia to numb your mouth. Other anesthesia or sedation types may be used to relax you throughout the treatment. Our staff will start by making a surgical incision in your gums so the post can be placed in your jawbone. The incision in the gums will be stitched closed with some of the dental implant showing above the gums. This will be repeated if several implants are required. While the dental implant integrates into the gums and jawbone over the following months, a temporary cover will be placed over the implants. As soon as we decide your implant is healed into your jaw, your permanent restoration (bridge, denture, or crown) can be connected to your implant and adjusted for a comfortable fit.
There may be some short-term inflammation in your mouth and lower face, plus discomfort, bruising, and minor bleeding after your implant procedure. Our practitioners will talk to you about what is to be expected and what should be reported to our office. We may also give you a prescription for pain relievers and antibiotics. After your dental implants are integrated and your restoration is connected, you should develop a good oral care routine at home that includes daily brushing and flossing. Continue to schedule annual exams and bi-annual professional cleanings at Buford Family Dentistry so we can evaluate the health of your mouth and implants. Our team will talk to you if your restorations or implants should be adjusted, repaired, or replaced.
Based on your dental insurance company and personal coverage, part of the expenses of your implants and custom restoration might be paid for. We will talk to your dental insurance company to understand your coverage and determine your personal cost. At your initial consultation, our caring staff may estimate your expenses and discuss payment methods we accept, along with information on low-interest medical financing.
Implants with custom restorations may be a good option if you are looking for a replacement for missing teeth that is simple to care for and can last for many years. We will explain the steps needed starting with surgery for implant placement and your restoration options. To get more information on implants, schedule a consultation at Buford Family Dentistry.
